Based on the life of the first president of Harvard University, Henry Dunster.  The play deals with the controversy surrounding Dunster’s forced resignation from Harvard.  When Dunster begins to profess a belief that does not toe the accepted line, the powers-that-be conspire to drive him from office, catching Jonathan Mitchell, Dunster’s friend, pastor, and former student, in the middle and forcing him to a decision that allows Dunster’s downfall.
